Description: Toda área aflorante do aquífero é potencialmente apta a receber recarga proveniente de precipitação atmosférica. A declividade do terreno foi o critério físico utilizado para definição dessas áreas. Áreas com baixa declividade topográfica conseguem reter águas pluviais por mais tempo e facilitar a infiltração no terreno, ao passo que, áreas com declividade alta favorecem o escoamento superficial. Definiu-se como critério para delimitação das áreas de recarga no SAU terrenos com declividades de até 2%. Áreas de descarga foram distinguidas pelas declividades do terreno maiores do que 2%, e também menores do que 2% quando associadas a cursos de água superficiais (planícies aluvionares).
